Michael Hamlett-Wood Gallery
I've been a painter almost all my life but in recent years I have stopped exhibiting and now concentrate on painting what I feel like painting, without any cerebral analysis of what I should be doing or of what emerges. The result of this is a mix of subject matter and techniques, a lot of figurative work mixed with some abstract, some imaginative, some derivative, some sculpture, some wood carving, and a lot of concern over the content. The wood carving I enjoy for the activity- it is intensely physical and therapuetic.
I enjoy painting imaginative subjects in an illustrative style but I'm not good at imaginative techniques.
I'll paint almost any subject requested-there have been a few strange ones over the years- I'll do animals, portraits, buildings, vehicles, gardens, boats almost anything requested from photographs, sketches or life. Try me.
